Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors 
Jesus A. Garay Vega, EIT, LEED AP, PMP

Jesus. A. Garay (Andy), EIT, LEED AP, PMP,  has a Bachelors In Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Florida International University (FIU), with over 19 years of experience in project management in diverse and complex projects such as Hormigueros City Hall Photovoltaic System, Tren Urbano (5 stations), LMM International Airport expansion, Columbia, South Carolina Airport Instrumentation Landing System (ILS) System, and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit among others. 
He is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) in Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (EB:OM) .

As a West Point cadet at the United States Military Academy (West Point), Mr. Garay learned the meaning of duty, honor and country. Later, as a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical (NBC) Warfare Specialist in the United States Army, he trained soldiers from the Army Reserve and National Guard in NBC tactics, allowing them to serve on the Gulf War and return home safe and healthy..

As an Al Gore’s Climate Reality Leadership Corps speaker, Andy is committed to use his green building knowledge to help communities build a prosperous future by creating a built environment that is both sustainable and healthy, by promoting energy efficiency and environmental responsibility which in turn will allow our communities to become resilient to the adverse impacts of climate change and reduce the vulnerability of people. 
His vision for the chapter is to seize the economic, environmental, and social opportunities offered by building an inclusive green economy of high-quality jobs and a thriving green-collar workforce, based on sustainability, clean energy, energy conservation, and energy efficiency.

Jorge Quintana

Mr. Quintana has over 5 years of experience in the energy conservation and facilities improvement industry. A graduate of Curry College, with a bachelor of business administration in marketing, he started his career in the energy industry as an independent consultant when he founded Greenroom, an energy efficiency consulting firm in New York. After managing and operating Greenroom, Jorge moved to Puerto Rico and joined Glenn International, a regional manufacturer’s representative in Puerto Rico, managing the firm’s energy efficiency and renewable energy divisions for four years. In 2013, Jorge joined Johnson Controls as Energy Solutions Account Executive providing support to the public and private sector markets.Besides his contributions to the U.S. Green Building Council, Quintana is also a member of Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project. He is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) and a Certified Climate Leader of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps. He has training from ASHRAE, NABCEP, and the Building Performance Institute on topics specific to energy efficiency, sustainability, and renewable energy. Jorge is also an advocate of community outreach projects that promote sustainable development and sustainability education of future generations.

Dr. Abruña is the Founding president of the USGBC-U.S. Caribbean Chapter. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, and the Father of the Green Building movement in Puerto Rico. He lives in a zero energy home.La Casa Ausente. He is also a U.S. Patent Holder for his BrightShade Window.

La Sra. Miranda se ha destacado en enseñarle a sus estudiantes el respeto por el ambiente y nuestros ecosistemas a través de huertos caseros, ademas de facilitarles a sus estudiantes aprender de diversos profesionales sobre la sustentabilidad y sus conceptos holísticos, A ganado premios por su ejecutoria junto a sus estudiantes y ademas es Pasada Presidenta del Club de Leones de Lajas. Ella estará coordinando nuestras actividades en la región occidental de PR.

Arch. Manuel Martinez
Ceiba Branch Project Manager

El arquitecto es graduado de bachillerato en Diseño Ambiental y maestría en Arquitectura de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras. Recibió la medalla del “AIA” y el Certificado de Mérito de “Henry Adams Fund” por ser el estudiante con el promedio general más alto de su clase. 

Es inventor del Sistema Concretek, un sistema de construcción “verde”, del cual tiene la patente. Es también el principal de la firma de arquitectura que lleva su nombre. Fue profesor de diseño de tercer año de arquitectura de la Universidad Politécnica en Hato Rey. Es presidente de APRODEC (Alianza pro desarrollo de Ceiba). Entre otros de sus inventos se encuentra el “Rosario Iluminado”. 

Prepara seminarios para ingenieros y arquitectos sobre los métodos de construcción contemporáneos. Miembro y director del Green Building Council Capítulo de Puerto Rico sucursal de Ceiba. Fue escogido como Empresario del Año en el 1998 por la Junta de Directores del Noveno Encuentro Empresarial. En sus años de práctica profesional como arquitecto ha realizado innumerables proyectos de diseño tanto residenciales, comerciales e industriales, así como de interés social. Entre sus proyectos más destacados se encuentra la Iglesia Del Cristo de la Reconciliación en Dorado y la primera Farmacia Ecológica Sally en Rio Grande la cual espera tener una certificación LEED Platino.

Arch. Vincent Pieri,  AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Vincent has lived in Puerto Rico since 1988, and is the founder of Pieri + Associates Architects. He is a licensed architect in Puerto Rico, (holds a BS Arch. from Kansas State University), and is a leader in green building design in Puerto Rico. He was a founding member and past-president of the USGBC U.S. Caribbean chapter.
His background in design, project management, and sustainable strategies has imparted a talent for how to listen to clients and ask the right questions to unlock practical architectural solutions for a wide range of projects. He has a no-nonsense approach to his work, believing that collaboration between architects, clients, and builders is essential to a job well done.
